Circuity

Also known as Circuity factor

The extra distance traveled when going from origin to destination, compared with the straight-line distance between them.

In logistics, the circuity, measures the extra travel compared with the straight-line distance between the origin and destination.

There are different types of circuity, such as:

  • Route factor: measures how much longer the traveled delivery route is.
  • Detour index: measures extra travel caused by the logistics network.
